THE Regal Masters have arrived in Florida and are ready for action when the 13th edition of the Florida Cup bowls off today. After an intense training session and a team-meeting yesterday at the Brian Picoloo Park, the Guyanese Masters team are seeking to win their opening fixture against Tri-State Masters then take it one step at a time to the final on Sunday.
Team manager Mohendra Arjune spoke of the team’s chances and said they are well prepared to take the cup back to Guyana to make everyone back home proud.
Team skipper Trouy Kippins said, “We are confident and will not take any team lightly. We don’t know what the other teams have planned but we know Regal and we know our plans. We are here to win.”
Florida Cup 13 has attracted 16 teams in two categories – All Stars for males any age and Masters for males over 45 years of age.
This year’s tournament is organised by the South Florida Cricket League to commemorate Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary and runs from March 11 to 13 at the Brian Picoloo Park with the finals set for the Central Broward Recreational Park on Sunday.
