TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD Rajpaul (only name given) of Helena Number One, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was yesterday sentenced to two years imprisonment for breaking and entering with intent to steal.
He pleaded guilty, before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, to having committed the offence on July 17 at a bond owned by Catherine Ramakhan.
Police Inspector Stephan Telford, prosecuting, told the Court the prisoner was found hiding behind merchandise in the storeroom.
Rajpaul claimed he was walking on a Georgetown pavement when a man offered him a job, took him to the place which had already been broken into and told him go in and pass out the booty.
But he never did and sat there until the Police arrived, the convict said.
