Victim critical but…

Alleged hit-and-run driver detained, car impounded
POLICE on Essequibo Coast detained the driver and impounded a motor car which struck a pedestrian standing on the parapet of the Windsor Castle Public Road Sunday night.
The injured 49-year-old Prem Singh was in front of his
bridge when the vehicle, proceeding towards Anna Regina in a southerly direction, hit and hurled him about 30 feet away into a drainage trench.
Residents who heard the loud impact pulled the unconscious Singh out of the water and rushed him to Suddie Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition, suffering multiple injuries to his head, a hip, legs, arms and other parts of his body.
The driver of the vehicle had sped away but the Police arrived on the scene promptly, retrieved a broken mirror and after giving chase, apprehended him and the car at Land of Plenty.
