Members of the public, including schoolchildren and foreigners, were invited to see the flour manufacturing process, guided by employees who explained how each department functions.
The visitors were also treated to samples of pholourie and other eatables at an exhibition booth where all the flour products were on display.
Some of the exhibits will be put on the market shortly but those on show were wheat germ, whole wheat and multi-grain flour and Italian pesto mix and Thunderbolt brands, with labels in Portuguese, for export to Brazil.
Some students told the Guyana Chronicle they were very impressed with what they saw at the complex and a teacher, Ms. Euleta Browne, of Joel Education Institute, said it was indeed interesting.
NAMILCO Finance Controller, Mr. Autamaram Lakeram said inviting the public was one aspect of a sensitisation exercise.
He said the company employs 110 people and they work six days a week on a 24-hour basis, producing 4,000 bags of flour daily.
Lakeram said NAMILCO is proud of its recent ISO 9001:2008 SGS certification by an overseas assessor after two years of hard work.
Another phase of the celebrations takes place on June 20, when employees and their families will be entertained at a fun day.
