Threatening behaviour defendant claims brain damage

DERRICK Ramkarran, 35, of Lot 35 Delph Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday on a threatening behaviour charge.

It was alleged that, on May 24, he threatened Seekumarie Mootoo but he pleaded not guilty and claimed he is suffering from the effect of a terrible accident to his brain.

However, the virtual complainant, who was in Court, said it was not the first time the defendant threatened to chop her.

The woman said the two of them are related and they live in the same building.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said the prosecution is the result of an ongoing feud between the families.

The magistrate ordered a probation report into the matter and put off the case until July 10.
Meantime, Ramkarran is on $15,000 bail.
