IN recent years Guyanese have been battered by foreign entertainers with their lewd, vulgar, uninspiring, extremely poor quality and unhealthy shows, particularly the Trinidadians with their songs promoting rum drinking etc. This nonsense is only a noise nuisance and disruption of the peace and serenity of the nights and is persistently eating away at the moral fibre of our society is already in serious decline.
Why don’t we instead bring circuses, Coney Islands and such healthy entertainment shows to our country? These types of shows are healthy, inspiring, relaxing and certainly not a nuisance which bring so much joy especially to our dear children. For that matter it is perhaps nearly a decade ago since Guyana had its last circus.
The preservation of the moral fabric of any society is equally important as its material advancement. In fact there is a close correlation between lawlessness and a breakdown of the moral fabric and therefore we should not be promoting activities which will further deteriorate our already delicate moral fabric.
It’s time Guyanese get some healthy entertainment
