SCORES of children and several adults from Number 30 Village, West Coast Berbice, Region Five on Thursday received gifts handed over to them individually by Minister of Social Cohesion Amna Ally, compliments of the International Human Services Organisation, Caring for Others (CFO).The “goodies” are part of an on-going programme supported by the CFO, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The handing-over was done at the CDC office at Number 29 Village.

The team accompanying the minister included Shabakie Fernandes, a local representative of CFO; Ministry of Social Cohesion Technical Officer, Natasha Singh-Lewis; Liaison Officer Shabbir Ali and Confidential Secretary Samantha Tullock.
Others present included APNU+AFC Region Five Councillor Carol Joseph; regional Member of Parliament Jennifer Wade; Deputy Regional Executive Officer Gobind Singh; and West Berbice Villages Community Development Council (CDC) Chairperson, Yvette Price.
The good gesture follows a recent meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, between Minister Ally and head of the CFO Esme Richmond –Shockley.
Fernandes disclosed that the gifts included books, items of clothing and footwear, all of which are brand new and were collected from donors around the world.
Minister Ally had distributed gifts from CFO in other areas also, such as Tuschen, Den Amstel and Uitvlugt.
She told the children and adults on Thursday that she chose Number 30 Village as the first in Region Five for distribution.
The other regions, she said, will also benefit from the programme.
