LAWRENCE John senior, 59, of John Ally Christianburg, Linden, testified against his son Lawrence John Jnr at the Wismar Magistrate’s Court, who on Saturday , allegedly physically assaulted his father and threatened to kill him. John told Magistrate Clive Nurse that on the day mentioned, his son was seen in his coconut tree picking coconut. He (John Snr) inquired of his son the reason he was picking the coconut without permission and he alleged that John Jnr answered him with expletives, “I could pick any f—ing coconut I want.”
According to John Snr, this led to a physical altercation, in which his son dealt him two cuffs to his face, which caused him to lose two front teeth.
He alleged that his son then used threatening language towards him, which prompted him to make a report at the Wismar Police Station.
“He tell me, ‘I gon kill you and cut you head off and put it in a black bag. Then I gon bugger you’,” related a very emotional John Snr to the Magistrate.
The magistrate asked the father whether he had anything to say as to how he felt about what transpired and he managed to get the word disappointed out of him, while he sobbed uncontrollably.
The magistrate then asked John Jnr to comment on the testimony given by his father and he too in an emotional state said that the day in question he was not at his father’s residence.
When asked if he had anything to ask his father, he was unable to speak as he was having difficulty composing himself. The case was dismissed as the statement given by John Snr did not correlate with the evidence presented on the whereabouts of his son on the day in question.
