With Guyana “Roaring in the Golden Jubilee” celebrations with much jubilation and fanfare at the Independence Arch, Brickdam, Georgetown, at the stroke of mid-night, the Guyana Chronicle solicited the views of the commoners and this is what they told our reporter Clestine Juan.Nicole McCray: I think the golden jubilee would be history making and to my opinion the celebration would be unique, something I’m looking forward to since our 50th anniversary would be a memorable experience.
Godfrey Yard: A lot of people are coming into the country to join the celebration because this anniversary is a celebration of the country’s Independence, 50 years as a nation.
Leroy White: I think it’s a nice celebration and I believe that all Guyanese should join in ushering the 50th anniversary. For me, I’m a part of a Mercury marching band in the festivity and through music we are helping to proclaimed Guyana Independence
Ashley Forde: To be a part of Guyana 50th anniversary ‘The Golden Jubilee’ is something in my life I won’t forget and being a Guyanese this is a hallmark of our efforts for freedom and progress
Fiona Garnett: I’m anticipating the Golden Jubilee festivity for we have come a long way as an Independent country, development likewise so we have a lot to celebrate
Rachida Greene: To me, Guyana Golden Jubilee is about the history, the heritage, the pioneers, the achievements of the past and rejoicing in the unity of Guyanese culture
