FOOTBALL fans are in for a treat this evening when the quarterfinals of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Banks Beer Cup heads to the Number 5 Ground West Coast Berbice. In game one, the Guyana Police Force will not have the home ground advantage they sported in their first game of the tournament, when they took on New Amsterdam United from 19:00hrs.

The police side had defeated Eastveldt 2-1 in a close-knitted affair at the GFC ground and they will be hoping that they have fully shaken the cobwebs from their boots.
On the other hand, it was the Number 5 ground last weekend, where New Amsterdam registered their first win and they now return for the first quarter-final match.
The outcome will be interesting as the Police side had shown their ability to create chances while the New Amsterdam side clearly were more clinical when it came to capitalising on their chances.
The second quarter-final game will pit Rosignol United, against Santos FC.
Rosignol will call again on their 12th man to play a major role in helping them overcome a youthful Santos side.
The tournament, which will see the winner taking home a handsome purse of $2M and a trophy, is being played at 4 venues across Guyana (Number 5 Village Berbice, GFC ground, Guyana Defence Force ground and Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.)
The runners-up will take home $1M and a trophy while the third- and fourth-placed team will cart off $500 000 and $250 000 respectively.
The final of the tournament is set for New Year’s Day.
