CITY Magistrate Annette Singh yesterday placed a 45-year-old painter on $10,000 bail on a charge of threatening to chop his pregnant neighbour. Amin Cumberbatch of Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge that said on October 6, 2015 at Silverbali Street, Meadow Brook, he made use of threatening language to Fareena Forde.
The trial began yesterday, and police Prosecutor Adunni Innis called Forde as her first witness. Cumberbatch, who was unrepresented, declined to ask Forde any questions.
The court was adjourned until January 7, for continuation of trial. The prosecution will be calling their second witness, Forde’s landlord, to testify in the matter.
