Regional leaders jumped the gun claims WICB boss

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) president Dave Cameron believes regional leaders jumped the gun, so to speak, in response to the recently released report by the Independent Review Panel of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) Sub-Committee on Cricket Governance.Following the release of the report, which suggested, among other things, that WICB be disbanded, Grenada’s prime minister Dr Keith Mitchell and other members of the CARICOM Cricket Governance Sub-committee have requested an urgent meeting to discuss the findings.
Cameron has revealed that it has not been possible to comply with the request as yet, however, as the member territories have not been given enough time to discuss the findings.
“Unfortunately I’m not sure how to respond to calls for an urgent meeting when if we sit down and have an urgent meeting I am not sure what I could say to that grouping, because it is the shareholders who have to decide the way forward,” Cameron said on Digicel SportsMax’s SportsMax Zone on Thursday.
The regional cricket head maintains that the body had only been made aware of the findings of the report a day before a press conference was called that made the findings public. Cameron believes the issue could have been handled differently.
“If we commissioned a report together then it’s only right that we receive the report and then discuss it to determine whether we are going to implement the findings, then we would make whatever we have agreed to the public,” Cameron said of the situation.(Sportsmax.com)
