A new 15-seater bus has been acquired by the Department of Education in Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara).
According to Regional Education Officer Marlyn Jones-O’Donoghue, the bus was acquired through the region’s capital budget.
The Education Official noted that transportation was always a bug-bear and stated that the new vehicle would definitely ease the transportation woes of her department.
O’Donoghue said that the truancy campaign and team visits to schools would be given a fillip, while other tasks such as the school feeding programme, distribution of learning materials and other school supplies would be enhanced significantly. (Region Three release)
