Bel Air Lions make donation to Mercy Hospital

THE Lions Club of Bel Air yesterday made a donation of bed linen to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, part of which was recently destroyed by fire.
The donated things, for which there is great need at this time, include bed sheets, pillows and pillow cases.
The handing over was done in the Hospital Administration Office, where Club President Yogeshwar Ragbeer made the presentation to the  Director of Nursing Services, Ms. Laurelle Daw.

Among others in attendance were Lions Hardevi Parsad, Past President Mohan Persaud and staff of the institution.
Daw,  on behalf of the hospital, expressed gratitude, to the donors, for the timely and kind humanitarian gesture.
Ragbeer said their club has been working in partnership with the hospital for the last ten years, extending free health care to the needy within the city and its environs, using a mobile clinic.
He said that that was the first of several projects identified by the club, to coincide with national events staged by Guyana Lions Clubs, in observance of the Golden Jubilee (50th anniversary) of Lionism in this country.
Ragbeer said a special Jubilee Committee, chaired by Past District Governor S.M.V. Nasseer, with representation from the various local clubs and Council and Cabinet Members, met recently to finalise arrangements for the August 23 anniversary celebrations, which will be attended by several CARICOM and foreign Lions Clubs.
