THE President’s Youth Award Republic of Guyana (PYARG) programme hosted an impromptu speech competition, last Friday, in observance of Youth Week.
The contest took place at the Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI) and PYARG Field Assistant, in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Herald Alves, said it involved students of Kabakaburi and Wakapoa primary schools and Anna Regina Multilateral and Abram Zuil Secondary School and Gold Awardees of Capoey.
He said the rivalry was aimed primarily at giving students the opportunity to widen their public speaking experience.
Alves said the participants were given topics based on prevalent issues affecting young people and their presentations were excellent and very impressive.
The first place winner was Serena Ally of Abram Zuil; Devon Tag of ETI placed second; Sarah Henry, Gold Awardee of Capoey, third and Clinton Pearson fourth.
Alves said the winners will be awarded at the Bronze Expedition scheduled for June 25 to 27.
