BEAUTICIAN Chrishell Browne, 26, of Lot 32 Lamaha Park, Georgetown and taxi driver Andre Shawn Pilgrim, 33, of Lot 83 Lamaha Street, Georgetown appeared before city magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday and pleaded not guilty to a charge of cocaine possession.
Details of the indictment are that on Friday, September 11, at Timehri, East Bank Demerara, they had in their possession 12.31 kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Browne was represented by attorney-at-law Mark Waldron, who told the court that his client is a mother of one. Pilgrim was represented by attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson, who told the court that his client is married, has a child, and has no pending or prior matters before the court.
Both defendants were remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned to October 9 for report.
Reports are that, following a tip, the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) arrested the duo on Friday evening in the vicinity of the Soesdyke/Linden Highway Junction with a quantity of cocaine placed in milk packets and concealed within the false walls of a suitcase.
Browne was intercepted on her way to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), where she was due to board a Fly Jamaica flight destined for the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
