PLEASE permit me to comment on the caption ‘St. Lucia welcomes visa-free travel to Europe’, in the Stabroek News, Monday June 1 edition. It was noted that the European Union had decided to allow nationals of St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago and two other ACP countries to enjoy visa-free travel to 26 countries of the European Union.
This is a plea to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Guyana Government to respectfully pursue dialogue with the EU to review the agreement that will allow Guyanese nationals to earn travel-free options to those countries. It is quite difficult at the moment to travel to any of the EU countries unless you can wait 20 working days to acquire a travel visa to those countries before travel.
Thanking you for your urgent consideration and action in this matter.
