THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) yesterday said that as a result of cooperation with INTERPOL and through crime intelligence garnered, they have arrested Trinidad national Ralph Ramdhan, known as Vernon Rampersaud, 50, who is wanted at home for a double homicide committed during 2014.He was found in a city hotel, and is in the country illegally.
Ramdhan is in custody awaiting deportation and escort back to Trinidad.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, three more men were charged yesterday following investigations into looting that took place in ‘C’ Field, Sophia, during protests on Monday last.
Clive Baird, 27, of ‘C’ Field, Sophia has been charged with two counts of simple larceny. He appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates Court, and was remanded to prison until June 5, 2015.
Additionally, a 16-year-old of ‘C’ Field, Sophia, and Melroy Weekes, 19, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia were jointly charged with simple larceny. They also appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates Court yesterday; were placed on $30,000.00 bail each, and will re-appear in court on June 8, 2015.
