A contingent of Electoral Officials from Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda are in Guyana under the aegis of the fraternity of the Association of Caribbean Electoral Organisations (ACEO). This visit which began on April 1 and concludes on April 5 is being coordinated locally by the Secretariat of the Guyana Elections Commission GECOM).
During the visit the contingent will be involved in interactive sessions with key staff members of the GECOM Secretariat with a view to sharing experiences in elections management.
At the recreational level, the contingent will be engaged in a day of sports at the National Park, kite flying at the Georgetown Seawall, and a church service at the St. George’s Cathedral. They will also be taken on tours of Georgetown, the Liliendaal Conference Centre, the CARICOM Secretariat, the University of Guyana, Linden, and one of the Creeks along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
The visit was arranged as part of the ACEO’s aim to provide opportunities for the staff of member organisations to interact with each other through exchange visits. (GECOM release)
