Work ongoing to rectify Good Hope stelling problems

RDC informed…
PEOPLE’S National Congress Reform (PNCR) member of the Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Ms. Marva Bowen has questioned the long delayed commissioning of the newly constructed Good Hope Ferry Stelling on Essequibo Coast.

Speaking at the statutory meeting for March, earlier this week, she asked why the pier is not being utilised yet.
Bowen recalled that Minister Transport and Hydraulics, Mr. Robeson Benn had promised that the state of the art facility would be operational shortly.
However, Regional Chairman, Mr. Alli Baksh, responding, said he visited the wharf several times and work to rectify some problems on the ramp is currently in progress.
He said a trial run of the new stelling and ramp was recently conducted, in the presence of Ministers Benn and Kellawan Lall, when it was discovered that the supporting pontoon was too small for heavy trucks.
