GOVERNMENT continues to provide citizens with opportunities of improving their communities and elevating their standards of living, and this was again tangibly demonstrated on Friday Last when it presented equipment and sports gear to several hinterland communities.
Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai handed over the equipment to Community Development Officers (CDOs) of various regions which will be utilised by residents to support the work being done in their communities to aid economic development.
She stated that with these equipment, the level and pace of development in these regions will be enhanced and the communities will benefit from improved communication with the addition of new radio sets.
Agriculture will be boosted with the chain saws, hoes, forks and shovels among other tools and sea transportation will be safer with the provision of life jackets.
Minister Sukhai explained that the CDOs will receive filing cabinets and chairs for their offices and some areas will benefit from 62 Watt solar panels and outboard engines.
Also sports gear which include basketballs, volleyballs, footballs, cricket bats and cricket balls were among items being presented which would boost youth development and involvement in sports.
Areas which received these equipment and sports gear are Paruima, Baramita, Santa Rosa, Kamwatta, Barabina, Waramadong, Kambaru, Wax Creek, Bamboo Creek, Tuseneng, Kamana ands Warapoka.
