AG granted leave in tortured teen compensation case

THE case in which the Police tortured teen, Twyon Thomas, is claiming compensation, was called yesterday before Justice Roxane George in the High Court. Attorney General Charles Ramson, S.C., who appeared for the Commissioner of Police and other respondents, was granted leave to file an affidavit in answer on their behalf.

Other attorney-at-law, Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan is seeking to have the victim compensated with punitive damages, as well, resulting from the actions of policemen Narine Lall and Mohanram Dolai.

The two ranks are alleged to have injured Thomas while he was in custody between October 27 and 31, 2009, at Leonora Police Station, on West Coast Demerara.
