TWENTY-four-year-old Donald Calender of Good Hope village, Essequibo Coast, was remanded to prison last Wednesday when he appeared before Essequibo Magistrate Sunil Scarce in the Anna Regina court to answer a charge of murder.
According to reports, Calender was not required to plead to the indictable charge. It is alleged that on December 26th, 2014, at Good Hope sand road, Calender murdered Vibert Benjamin. He allegedly dealt Benjamin several stabs, which resulted in his death.
Calender was subsequently arrested and was under police guard at the Suddie Public Hospital. He also received injuries to his ears, back and abdomen during the argument he had with Benjamin.
Reports said Calender was remanded pending the hearing of the preliminary inquiry which is slated to commence at the Suddie Magistrates Court on January 22nd, 2015.
