A TWENTY-year-old Jamaican-born American citizen was held with a quantity of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Monday evening as he was getting ready to board a flight to Canada.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the bust was made by ranks of the Guyana Police Force acting on information received. The man was at the time preparing to board a Fly Jamaica flight.
According to information, the illegal substance was discovered in the man’s socks and two bottles of cream wrapped in pellets measuring three inches each.
The substance was recovered, weighed and tested in the presence of the man before he was placed under arrest.
The man who was born in Jamaica was at the time of the bust getting ready to travel to Canada on a United States passport. He is said to have been living in the United States for most of his life. It is expected that he will be placed before the court shortly.
This publication was also informed that the man has a girlfriend and an aunt in Guyana and they were up to press time in police custody.
However, it is not clear if the two women would be charged but according to police sources the investigation is still open.
