Chavez Jr. banned after positive test

UNDEFEATED Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has been suspended for seven months after testing positive for a diuretic.
The 24-year-old Mexican was penalised by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after failing a drugs test following a 10-round points win against Troy Rowland in November.

He tested positive for Furosemide, which rids the body of excess water through the bladder.
Chavez said he was worried about making the 160-pound middleweight limit after a 12-hour hospital stay following a dizzy spell in the run-up to his bout on the Manny Pacquiao v Miguel Cotto undercard.
“I did everything (my personal) doctor told me to do,” he told the Las Vegas Sun. “I had complete trust in my doctor and in what he was giving me.
“I would take a lot of stuff from him without asking because I had 100 per cent trust in him.”
He took it twice before making weight. (Eurosport)
