In light of El Nino…

Alphonso Group providing free potable water in Pomeroon
ALFRO Alphonso Group of Companies, at Charity on Essequibo Coast, is providing free potable water to all residents of lower and upper Pomeroon River, in light of the prevailing El Nino crisis.
The benefactors are delivering from their Teneze Farm in lower Pomeroon
and scores of residents are travelling to the location by boat to collect their supplies in plastic containers and buckets.
The beneficiaries are very thankful for the water which is free of cost to them as their only alternative would have been to get from Akawini Creek, some five miles from Pomeroon River mouth and 25 miles from Charity.
Those who do not own outboard engines would have found it very difficult to paddle the long distance to get for use to drink, cook and wash, because water from Pomeroon River is heavily salted and cannot be used by farmers either.
But Alphonso Group has pledged to continue supplying the residents until the El Nino phenomenon no longer exists.
Savannahs in the Pomeroon are also dry.
