Happy Hearts tops in Nursery School band
Music, dancing, creativity…reds, blues, greens, yellows and a galore of more colours.
This was the scene on the streets of Georgetown Saturday last when the children of Guyana took to the streets for the annual Children’s Mashramani Parade.
The results that point out the best outfits in the parade were yesterday released.
In the Nursery School Band, Happy Hearts Nursery came first with ‘Miss Republic – 40 years of Achievements. Following them were Sherman’s Nursery with ‘Legend of Gold’, second, Turkeyen Nursery with ‘Celebrating our Culture through music’, third, and Albouystown Nursery with ‘Blossoming Hibiscus and the bees’, fourth.
Of the Primary School Bands, Rama Krishna came out on top with ‘Learning in Unity through culture’, Winfer Gardens Primary with ‘The Beautiful Angels fulfill their academic dream for a brighter tomorrow’, second, Community Academy Primary’s ‘Tribute to our First People’ , third, and South Ruimveldt Park Primary with ‘Rainforest Preservation’ fourth.
Dolphin Secondary School placed first in the Secondary School Band with ‘The Alien Red Dragon’. In second place was Ascension Secondary with ‘Celebrating our Folk Legends’, followed by Cummings Lodge, ‘Moulding our Nation’s Children to support our Diverse Heritage’, and Achiever’s Academy with ‘Build a Future from our Heritage’.
Other children’s organisations also participated and the Hinterland Scholarship copped the top spot among this group. In second place was West End Youth Cultural Centre with ‘Golden Sparkles in a Beautiful Forest’. In third and fourth places were National School of Dance, with Dance –the gateway to our cultural heritage’; and Z Bra Children’s Network with ‘Proud to be Guyanese’.
The individual presentation category saw Mwanza Glen with ‘The faceless void of Culture’ at first. Jamel Broomes and ‘A Royal Explosion –A prince in his glory’ came second.
In the regional presentations category, Region One (Barima/ Waini) came first with ‘Embracing our Diversity, Celebrating our Heritage’. Regions Three (West Demerara/ Essequibo), Six (East Berbice/ Corentyne) and Two (Pomeroon/ Supenaam) followed in the respective places.
