Albouystown residents without potable water

RESIDENTS of La Penitence Street, popularly known as xStar Streetx, Albouystown, yesterday expressed frustration over the water problems that they are experiencing.

Mrs. Norma Boyce, a resident for over 11 years, said it is now close to one month since they are not getting any water through their pipelines.

xI canxt do anything without water and itxs not a case where I can afford to buy water to do my chores. I buy water only to drink,x she said.

Mrs. Boyce, 54, explained that she has to fetch water from a corner away from her house at 5 oxclock in the morning and this is inconvenient for her.

She said that she and her neighbours have made complaints to the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), but so far, nothing has been done.

Another resident, Ms. Shabana Baijnauth, 32, expressed similar concerns.

She said officers of GWI had promised to visit the area, but no one has turned up as yet.
Attempts to contact GWI yesterday on this matter were unsuccessful.
