Education being placed a priority in 2010

I pen this letter with great satisfaction after learning that Government this year has allocated the largest part of its budget towards the education sector.
This is a major step which I feel will make a significant impact on society since there will be more programmes and initiatives developed towards enhancing the
learning system in Guyana.
I know that over the years, the Ministry of Education has remained committed in its goal of ensuring all children have access to quality education and learn in a comfortable and child-friendly environment, however, with this year’s allocation, a larger amount of money can be spent on providing our children with more upgraded facilities and advanced technology such as computers and laboratories with more equipment.
Mr. Editor, the children are our future and once they are given the right opportunities they will be able to take the country forward at a faster rate.
With more money being invested in the education sector, not only will children be able to benefit tremendously but also adults.
There are many students at the University of Guyana (UG) who are admitted on the basis of student loans, and I am happy to know that this year, there is a special provision in the sector for student loans since a majority of UG applicants depend on this for admittance to pursue a higher level of education and further develop themselves.
Mr. Editor, with this $21.4B that has been allocated to the education sector, I am positive that a lot of significant impacts will be made that will propel Guyana into modernization at a faster pace and result in our children being the best that they can be.
