Essequibo fisherman drowns in canal

A   23-year-old fisherman drowned in a drainage canal aback Johanna Cecelia Village on the Essequibo Coast.
Reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle said the fisherman,
Dookraj Singh, known as ‘Doc’, left his home at around 05:00 hours Tuesday to check his seine in the canal.
According to Mr. Pooran Harilall, who is an uncle of the deceased, a search was launched early Tuesday morning for the fisherman after he failed to show up at home and his body was found in the canal.
Reports said the fisherman, who was suffering with epilepsy, must have had a seizure and fallen into the canal while collecting the catch from his seine.
