GRC celebrates with photo exhibition

Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, acting in the capacity of President, commended the Guyana Relief Council (GRC) yesterday.
The GRC, which assists victims of natural and man-made disasters, is observing its 16th anniversary by hosting a week-long photographic exhibition at the National Library in Church Street, Georgetown.
Hinds extended appreciation on behalf of the Government of Guyana and the Minister of Human Services and Social Security to the NGO. He urged the organisation which offers to all Guyanese to keep on going.
Also present at the event was Second Secretary of the High Commission of India Mr. B.K Tayal, C.E.O of  GEB Security Services  Mr. Maurice Amres, Charge d’ Affairs at the U.S Embassy Ms. Karen Williams, Wife of Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Ms. Wang Jin and Godfrey Chin.
The display will be open on the ground floor of the library until Friday from 10:00 hrs until closing time of the library.
GRC is a non-profit, non-government and voluntary organization. Its mandate is to bring material aid to persons who suffer from natural or manmade disasters, such as fires, flood, drought and freak storms/high winds, throughout Guyana. The council also provides a temporary shelter for persons who are displaced due to these disasters.
The humanitarian work of the GRC is funded mainly through donations from local and overseas supporters, fund-raising activities and a monthly government subvention. The council is in need and welcomes the support of individuals and organizations in the form of time, finances or materials to assist with rebuilding the lives of those in distressing situations.
