Women security guards charged with abusing each other

TWO security guards, Deborah Melville, 47, of Lot 14 and Sherryann McPherson, 37, of Lot 17, both on Front Road, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared in Court last Friday, on charges of using abusive language to each other.

But, after they pleaded guilty to the January 19 offences, Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson ordered a probation report on the matter and put McPherson on $7,000 bail while releasing Melville on her own recognisance.

It was alleged that the defendants made use of language that caused a breach of the peace.

McPherson claimed she was talking with a group of girls on the roadway when Melville emerged from her house and abused her.

Melville, however, said she was inside her house when she heard McPherson cursing some of her relatives outside.

Melville said McPherson later went to her gate with a crowd and cursed her, then made a serious allegation about her 15-year-old daughter that caused the confrontation.

The two women have to be back in Court on February 12.
