RICHARD Charles and Crystal Blackman were the stars on show when the 2010 cycle season opened yesterday at the National Park.
The event, which was sponsored by Ricks and Sari Group of Companies and organised by national cycle coach Hassan Mohamed attracted a number of BMX and upright cyclists.
Charles won the 10-lap race for upright cyclists as well as a 5-lap event for the same category of riders.
Blackman, on the other hand, won a two-lap race for BMX riders six to nine years of age including boys, as well as a three-lap event for boys.
Keon Thomas and Andre Petty placed second and third respectively to Charles in the 10-lap affair while Thomas and Ozia McUally placed second and third respectively to him in the five-lap race.
Romel Bhoodoo and Nicholas Nandan were second and third respectively to Blackman in the two-lap race while Christopher Griffith and Bhoodoo were second and third respectively to Blackman in the three-lap affair.
In other results, Darius Ramsammy won a three-lap race for boys 12-14 years of age. Second was Nicholas Alves and third was Grantly Bentick.
The BMX boys open three-lap race was won by Marlon King while McUally placed second and Andre Petty third.
Paul DeNobrega won the BMX 12-14 years, three-lap race ahead of Davenand Bissoon and Brandon Barker in that order.
Dianne Rodrigues made the presentation of prizes to the winners after the event.
