– Commissioners will serve part-time; panel must reflect Guyana’s national and gender makeup

THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament of Guyana is calling on political parties, civil society organisations, stakeholders and individuals to submit names of persons eligible to serve on the Public Procurement Commission (PPC), with nominations due by Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
The appeal, issued by Parliament Office and signed by Clerk of the National Assembly Mr. Sherlock E. Isaacs, forms part of the Committee’s process of nominating members to the five-seat Commission.
Commissioners, once appointed, will serve on a part-time basis.
Under Article 212X of the Constitution, the Commission must consist of five members who have expertise and experience in procurement, legal, financial and administrative matters.
The Constitution further provides that the President appoints the members only after they have been nominated by the PAC and approved by not less than two-thirds of the elected members of the National Assembly.
The PAC said nominees must first and foremost be competent to carry out the required duties. The usual considerations also apply: nominees must be of good repute, have no criminal record and have no history of bankruptcy.
The Committee added that it wishes the Commission’s composition to reflect, as far as possible, the national and gender makeup of Guyana.
The PAC said it decided to seek names from a reasonably wide cross-section of society. It is inviting submissions from anyone with an interest in the establishment and proper functioning of the Commission.
All submissions must come from clearly identifiable addresses or named organisations.
Nominations should be addressed to: The Clerk of the Committee, Public Accounts Committee, Committees Division, Parliament Office, Public Buildings, Brickdam
Georgetown.
Submissions may also be emailed to savitah.dandrade@parliament.gov.gy. Further information is available by telephone at 226-8458, extension 233, or by cell at 627-2897 or 644-0698.
