– police ranks join private-sector partners to promote cancer awareness and community solidarity
SENIOR and junior ranks of the Guyana Police Force’s Regional Division No. 3 joined private-sector partners on Sunday in a cancer awareness walk aimed at promoting public awareness of the disease and demonstrating solidarity with affected individuals and their families.
The inaugural Cancer Awareness Walk 2026 was organised by Hamza Boss and Z’s Auto Hub in collaboration with Regional Division No. 3, in keeping with the Guyana Police Force’s Strategic Plan 2022–2026.
The activity commenced at 5:30 a.m. at the Den Amstel Police Station and proceeded to the Leonora Track and Field Facility on the West Coast Demerara, where participants demonstrated their support for cancer awareness and the importance of collective action in addressing the impact of the disease.
The initiative sought to raise awareness about cancer, recognise the challenges faced by patients and their families, and pay tribute to those who have suffered from the illness.
It also underscored the importance of compassion, community participation and sustained efforts to support individuals affected by cancer.
The participation of police ranks reflected the Force’s engagement in activities that extend beyond law enforcement, while highlighting the role of partnerships between the police, private-sector organisations and the wider community in advancing social awareness and responsibility.
Through the collaboration, Regional Division No. 3 continues to foster relationships with community partners and members of the public, supporting initiatives that encourage unity and promote the well-being of citizens.
The walk served as a demonstration of solidarity with persons affected by cancer, reinforcing the message that collective community efforts can help strengthen awareness, encourage support and contribute to a healthier society.
