Applications open for 2027 Young Leaders of Americas Initiative Fellowship Programme

THE U.S. Embassy in Georgetown has announced that applications are open for the 2027 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Programme.
Applicants can apply at https://ylai.state.gov from October 9 to November 8, 2026.
The U.S. Department of State sponsors YLAI, which brings promising leaders from 36 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada to the United States.
Through skills-building workshops and exchanges with U.S. counterparts, fellows will strengthen their leadership and entrepreneurial skills and grow their networks. The programme will take place in the United States from June to July 2027.
The programme is open to entrepreneurs between the ages of 25 and 35 who have successfully grown their own business or social venture for at least two years.
Applicants must be citizens and current residents of Guyana. Key recruitment industries include artificial intelligence, manufacturing, biotechnology, agtech, and supply chains.
Since its launch in 2015, YLAI has helped emerging entrepreneurs across the Western Hemisphere reach their full economic potential.
The programme promotes U.S. business models, increases trade, encourages job creation, and builds lasting networks of young entrepreneurs and business and social leaders across Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and the United States. To date, 33 Guyanese entrepreneurs have taken part in the YLAI Fellowship Programme.
