POLICE seized 7.370 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis during a search of an abandoned wooden building at Timmers Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Monday.
The discovery was made at about 13:30 hours after ranks on mobile patrol acted on information received and proceeded to the building, where they conducted a search.
During the operation, police found a bulky salt bag and a bulky black plastic bag, both containing quantities of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspected narcotics were taken to the Central Police Station, where they were weighed and found to have a total weight of 7.370 kilogrammes. The substance was subsequently lodged.
No one was arrested in connection with the discovery.
Police said investigations are continuing.
