GUYANA and Haiti are exploring opportunities to deepen co-operation in the aviation sector, following a meeting between their senior government officials on the sidelines of a regional aviation safety symposium in Guyana.
Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, met with Haiti’s Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications, Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis and members of his delegation on Thursday, during the Caribbean High-Level Symposium on Aviation Safety.
Indar was accompanied by Deputy Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Dr Saheed Sulaman.
The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest between the two CARICOM member states and opportunities to strengthen collaboration in aviation.
The meeting formed part of Guyana’s engagement with regional counterparts during the high-level symposium, which brought together aviation stakeholders to discuss measures aimed at strengthening aviation safety and co-operation across the Caribbean.
As members of CARICOM, Guyana and Haiti maintain opportunities for collaboration in areas of regional transportation and aviation, with both countries participating in efforts to advance safe and efficient air connectivity across the region.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two sides to identify areas where greater technical and institutional co-operation could support the development of their respective aviation sectors.
