ANNA Regina played host to a vibrant showcase of strength and conditioning as Viji Raheem claimed overall honours at the One Guyana Essequibo Classic.
Eighteen athletes took to the stage in front of a packed audience in Region Two, with Emmerson Bert crowned Mr. Essequibo and Qurian Spellen capturing the Miss Essequibo title.
The high-calibre competition was further elevated by guest appearances from reigning Mr Guyana Colin Chesney, newly minted Pro Card holder Roley Chandler, and reigning Wellness Champion Melitha Anderson.
Beyond the main bodybuilding divisions, Romelton Siland impressed with a chiselled fitness and fit model showcase, while a series of novelty challenges drew loud support from the crowd.
The side events featured remarkable displays of power and endurance, highlighted by a participant completing 103 push-ups in a single minute, a deadlift challenge topping out at 558lbs, and a gruelling female squat competition where the winner logged 59 repetitions in 60 seconds.
Organised with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Federation President Videsh Sookram steered the event as master of ceremonies, alongside a judging panel comprising Kevon Best, Christina Ramsammy and Mrs Sookram.
Bikini champions Sabita Stevenson and Errol Teekaram joined executive member Intiaz Satar and stage manager Erik Satar to present the medals and trophies, bringing a successful evening to a close and reinforcing the growth of bodybuilding talent across the country.
