EMMERSON Bart is the first Mr Essequibo overall champion, overcoming a strong field of bodybuilders on Saturday at the auditorium of the Anna Regina Secondary School.
Bart presented the most chiselled frame to an adoring audience and earned the judges’ nod as the county’s top builder.
While multi-discipline athlete Vajay Rahim continue to make his mark on the local sports fraternity with another first, this time capturing the Essequibo bodybuilding classic championship
The long-awaited event, hosted by the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation in the Cinderella County for the first time, saw the record-breaking powerlifter secure the title over the likes of Dwayne Massey and Akini Mars.

Mars had earlier won the Mr Essequibo physique open.
Akella Koulan was crowned Miss Bikini Open Champion.
The event saw 18 athletes hitting the stage for the inaugural event sponsored primarily by Avenue Cafe on Quamina Street and Fitness Express on Shariff Street.
President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Videsh Sookram, said they wanted the person in that part of the country to have “An experience of a lifetime; it is the first time something like this happens, and it’s with the aim of encouraging fitness and healthy lifestyles, building confidence, and educating the public about bodybuilding.”

The Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport and Zoon Logistics also supported the showcase.
