TWO Cuban nationals were robbed at gunpoint after boarding a motorcar to travel to Wales on Friday evening, police have reported.
The victims, ages 41 and 29, both factory workers, were robbed between 19:30hrs and 20:00hrs in the vicinity of Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara.
According to a police release, the men boarded a silver-grey motorcar that was reportedly heading to Wales. At the time, one of the suspects was seated in the front passenger seat.
Police said that while the vehicle was in the Stanleytown area, the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded the victims’ belongings.
The men were relieved of two cellular phones, a wristwatch, a wallet, and a total of G$8,000 in cash.
The victims were then instructed to exit the vehicle, after which the suspects drove away.
Police have identified CCTV cameras in the area and said footage will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
