– as Guyana hosts INTERPOL regional conference

PRIME Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, performing the functions of President, received United States Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole Theriot and a delegation of senior US law enforcement officials at the Office of the Prime Minister, in a meeting aimed at reaffirming co-operation on public safety, law enforcement and regional security.
The delegation is in Guyana for the INTERPOL Americas Regional Conference.
The US officials included Stephanie Creasy, Deputy Director of the United States Marshals Service and Daniel R. Vizzi, Acting Director of INTERPOL Washington, the United States National Central Bureau.
Also in the delegation were Chief Inspector Andrew Haggerty, US Marshals Service Attaché to the Caribbean; Sandy Rao, Country Advisor to Guyana; Luis Mendez, Regional Advisor at the Colombia Foreign Field Office; and Seon Greaves, Criminal Fraud Investigator at the US Embassy.
Prime Minister Phillips was accompanied by Home Affairs Minister, Oneidge Walrond; Police Commissioner, Dr Clifton Hicken; National Security Adviser, Captain Gerry Gouveia and Colonel Sheldon Howell, Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). Other senior security officials also attended.
