THIRTY-one trainees enrolled at the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) Region Eight Training Centre have received safety equipment and training stipends as they continue developing practical skills in electrical installation and welding and fabrication.
The distribution benefitted 16 electrical installation trainees and 15 trainees pursuing welding and fabrication at the Mahdia-based centre.
The trainees are drawn from communities in and around central Mahdia, including 111 Miles Mahdia, 7 Miles Mahdia, 109 Miles Mahdia, Republic Avenue, Pepper Hill and surrounding areas.
The safety equipment is intended to protect trainees during practical training sessions, particularly while they work with specialised tools, machinery and other equipment.
The provision of the gear is also aimed at reinforcing workplace safety practices as trainees acquire practical competencies in their respective fields.
In addition to the safety equipment, the trainees received stipends to provide financial support while they participate in their training programmes.
The training programmes are designed to equip participants with practical skills that can improve their prospects for employment, entrepreneurship and greater economic participation within their communities.
Through the Region Eight Training Centre, BIT continues to provide technical and vocational training opportunities for residents of Mahdia and surrounding communities, helping participants acquire skills applicable to the labour market and potential self-employment.
