TWO-time Corporate Sponsor of the Year (Small), Ramesh Sunich, proprietor of Trophy Stall, is once more displaying his undoubted generosity by donating all the trophies for this year’s ninth edition of the Prime Minister T20 Softball Cup.
The affable Sunich, who captured the Corporate Sponsor of the Year award in successive years at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport National Sports Awards, readily agreed to sponsor the trophies which he also did on previous occasions.
According to Sunich, Trophy Stall takes pride in knowing that its trophies and awards are part of the many competitions held across the country and the Prime Minister T20 Softball falls in that category.
“We at Trophy Stall truly appreciate it and feel proud to be part of the effort to support sports and athletes across Guyana.”
Sunich stressed that “supporting sports is not about finances. It’s about passion and love for sport. It’s about helping young athletes chase their dreams. It’s about making society better through the power of sport.”
Sunich has also been a sponsor with a difference. While most sponsors rarely venture out of the country of their birth to support other sports associations/organisations, Sunich, along with his brother Roger, has also sponsored softball cricket in Canada, including the 2024 Canada Cup tournament.
The three-day extravaganza is set for October 2-4 at various venues in Georgetown, culminating with the four finals – Open All Class, Masters Over-40, Legends Over-50 and Women’s Division at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary on the final day.
The winners in the Legends Over-50 will waltz away with the grand first prize of $800, 000 and a trophy and the runners-up will receive $200,000 and a trophy. In addition, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the division will take home a three-piece living room suite, the player scoring the most runs will be awarded one floor model dispenser and the bowler with the most wickets will receive one microwave.
The successful team in the Masters Over-40 are assured of $800,000 and the winners’ trophy while the runners-up will receive $200,000 and the runners-up trophy. The MVP takes home a refrigerator, the player with the most runs – a floor model water dispenser and the bowler with the most wickets – a microwave.
In the All Stars Open, the winners will also receive $800,000 and a trophy and the runners-up – $200,000 and a trophy. The MVP gets a washing machine, the player with the most runs will walk away with a floor model water dispenser and the bowler with the most wickets will take home a microwave.
The victorious women’s side carts off $400, 000 and the runners-up $200, 000. Several incentive prizes are also up for grabs in the category. The MVP will take home a four-burner gas stove, the player with the most runs will receive a floor model water dispenser and the bowler with the most wickets will be awarded a microwave. All the respective players of the finals are also guaranteed trophies.
