THREE persons are in police custody following an early-morning incident at a wash bay along the Railway Line, Kitty, Georgetown, during which police ranks were allegedly obstructed while responding to a report of loud and continuous music.
According to the Guyana Police Force, the incident occurred at about 02:05 hrs on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Initial enquiries revealed that an unknown caller contacted the police and reported that loud and continuous music was being played from a motor car at the wash bay, causing annoyance.
The report was subsequently communicated to the Police Operations Room, and a patrol was dispatched to the location.
Upon their arrival, the ranks attempted to address the reported disturbance but were allegedly obstructed by several persons while carrying out their duties. An additional police patrol was subsequently summoned to assist.
Three persons were apprehended and are presently in custody, while efforts are continuing to locate other persons in connection with the incident.
Police said they are also aware of video footage circulating on social media showing a portion of the interaction between ranks and several persons at the location.
The circumstances surrounding the entire incident are being investigated.
