ENGLAND have named the uncapped Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe in their squads for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
Derbyshire opener Donald has been included in the 16-player squad for the three-match T20 series, while Sussex seamer Crocombe makes the 16-man line-up for the three one-day internationals.
Donald scored 489 runs in 12 matches captaining Derbyshire Falcons in the Vitality Blast and hit the most sixes in this year’s competition with 37.
He also helped Trent Rockets to the final of the Hundred, which the 29-year-old’s side lost to Manchester Super Giants.
Crocombe, 24, has taken hat-tricks in his past two County Championship matches and has three five-wicket hauls this season.
England men’s national selector Marcus North said the pair are “two promising players who have earned their places on the back of impressive performances in domestic cricket”.
He added: “Aneurin has had an exceptional season for Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast and also with Trent Rockets in The Hundred while Henry is a player we have had an eye on all summer.”
Meanwhile England all-rounder Jacob Bethell will again be absent after he “underwent successful surgery on his injured knee earlier this week”.
He is targeting the white-ball series against Australia in November for his comeback.
Bethell sustained his injury in the ODI series against India in the summer and missed the Test series against Pakistan.
He is also expected to be absent for an ODI tri-series against hosts Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Lahore and Rawalpindi in October.
Batter Phil Salt is unavailable because of a right quad injury, while bowler Jamie Overton is in both squads after missing the white-ball series against India earlier with a thigh injury.
