MINISTER within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj, on Friday, met with residents of Lower Pomeroon to discuss the establishment of a joint pig farm by a collective of farmers in the region, with support from the government.
The minister’s visit follows a recent commitment made by President Dr Irfaan Ali to the farmers to establish the farm in the Pomeroon, taking advantage of the growing demand for pork in the region.
The initiative forms part of a series of farming and agriculture projects currently being advanced by the President to increase local agricultural production while creating opportunities for local businesses.
Minister Ramraj was accompanied on the visit by Regional Chairman Devin Mohan, Regional Vice Chairman Humace Oodit, and representatives from the community.
