THE unbeaten Guyana Amazon Warriors are set to take on the Jamaica Kingsmen on Friday at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence in a high-stakes Caribbean Premier League (CPL) clash.
The Amazon Warriors enter the encounter boasting a flawless record, having won all four of their matches so far to accumulate eight points with an impressive net run rate of +2.604.
They face a Jamaica Kingsmen side that also sits on eight points with four wins and four losses from eight games, eager to build momentum and hand the hosts their first defeat of the season.
Adding a compelling storyline to the rivalry is the return of Guyanese all-rounder Keemo Paul.
When Paul takes the field at Providence on Friday, he will find himself in familiar surroundings but wearing unfamiliar colours as he turns out for the opposing Kingsmen against his home team.
Coming off a commendable campaign across all formats for both country and franchise, the long-standing son of the soil is determined to keep his form going on familiar turf.
Speaking after the Kingsmen’s training session on the eve of the encounter, Paul stressed that on-field performance is the only true lever for managing the atmosphere.
He noted that the only way to quell the passionate home crowd is to play high-quality cricket and outmaneuver the Amazon Warriors at their Providence fortress.
Meanwhile, the starting time for Sunday’s clash between the Warriors and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots has changed from 10:00am to 03:00pm.
