Caribbean Energy Week 2027, scheduled for July 13–15, 2027, will be held under the patronage of His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and endorsed by Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat. Under the theme, “Unlocking the Caribbean Energy Corridor: Oil, Gas, LNG & Investment for a New Global Hub,” the event will bring together policymakers, investors, energy leaders and industry stakeholders to explore Guyana’s expanding role within the regional energy landscape and the opportunities for deeper Caribbean integration, investment and economic development.
Speaking at the launch of Caribbean Energy Week, Guyana’s Chief Investment Officer and Agency Head of the Guyana Office for Investment, Peter Ramsaroop said the Caribbean’s energy conversation must increasingly be viewed through the lens of economics, investment and competitiveness.
“Energy is economics. The cost, reliability and availability of energy determine what we can produce, what we can export, and ultimately how competitive our economies can become.”
Ramsaroop noted that Guyana’s expanding energy sector is creating an economic platform extending well beyond oil and gas. Opportunities continue to emerge across manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, logistics, construction, technology, tourism and services.
Central to this transformation is more competitive and reliable energy. Lower energy costs will significantly change the investment equation, making industries commercially viable that were previously difficult to establish or expand.
“Energy creates economies beyond energy. When the economics of energy improve, investment follows, industries expand, exports become more competitive globally and new opportunities are created for our people and businesses.”
He said Guyana’s transformation also presents a wider Caribbean opportunity. Greater regional integration around energy, food production, manufacturing, transportation and supply chains can strengthen energy security while creating a more competitive Caribbean economic space.
Caribbean Energy Week therefore represents more than a discussion about energy. It provides a platform to connect serious investors, capital and technology with real opportunities emerging from the region’s changing energy economics.
“The question is no longer only how much energy we can produce. The bigger question is what industries we can build because of it, what investments we can attract, and how our people and businesses participate in the wealth that energy creates.”
