THREE Georgetown men have been remanded to prison after being charged in connection with an alleged attempt to commit robbery under arms at Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
The accused are Yohance Carroll, 22, unemployed, of Tucville Squatting Area; Earl Grant, 23, a labourer of Tucville; and Adrian Greenidge, 23, a security guard of Cane View Squatting Area.

The trio appeared on Monday at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court No. 2 before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan, where they were jointly charged with attempting to commit a felony, namely robbery under arms, contrary to Section 36 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Grant and Greenidge were also individually charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
The accused were not required to plead to the indictable charges and were subsequently remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to October 9, 2026.
The charges followed a police investigation into an alleged attempted armed robbery at Tuschen New Housing Scheme on Friday, August 28, at about 6:48 a.m.
Police said the alleged victim, a 42-year-old Director of Projects at the Central Housing and Planning Authority, was at his home when he exited through a western door to dispose of garbage.
After returning inside and securing the door, the man reportedly went to his bedroom and checked his security cameras. He allegedly observed four masked males entering his yard and approaching the western door, where they attempted to gain entry.
The man reportedly contacted the police immediately.

Acting on information received, police ranks intercepted three males at Fisher Dam, Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
According to police, a search of one of the suspects resulted in the discovery of a suspected firearm and three matching rounds of ammunition in a haversack he was carrying.
A further search of another suspect allegedly uncovered a second suspected firearm and three matching rounds of ammunition concealed on his person.
The men were reportedly told of the allegations, cautioned and arrested.
The suspected firearms and ammunition were taken to Leonora Police Station, where they were marked, sealed and lodged.

Police subsequently revisited the scene and identified several CCTV cameras in the area. Footage was extracted for processing by Crime Scene Technicians as the investigation continues.
